M25 to Close for Second Time This Year
Full Weekend Closure Scheduled for May
Work to Continue on Major Highway Improvement Project
The M25 motorway will be closed for a full weekend for the second time this year, as work continues on a major improvement project. A five-mile (8km) stretch of the M25 was closed from 15th-18th March, and a further closure is planned for May.
The closure will affect a section of the M25 between junctions 9 and 10 in Surrey. The motorway will be closed in both directions from 10pm on Friday 10th May to 5:30am on Monday 13th May.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted via the A3 and the M3. National Highways has advised motorists to allow extra time for their journeys and to consider alternative routes if possible.
The M25 closure is part of a wider project to improve the motorway network around London. The work includes widening sections of the M25, adding new lanes and improving junctions.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and is designed to reduce congestion and improve journey times on one of the busiest motorways in the country.
