M25 Closure: Second Full Weekend Shutdown in 2024
Anti-Clockwise Road Works on J12
Mark your calendars for another major traffic disruption on the M25. The anti-clockwise carriageway between J12 and J15 will be completely closed for a full weekend, starting on Friday, May 10th, 2024, at 21:12 GMT.
Essential Improvement Works
This full weekend closure is part of an ongoing series of essential improvement works on the M25. The Highways England team will be carrying out resurfacing, bridge repairs, and drainage upgrades along a five-mile (8km) stretch of the motorway.
The previous full closure on the clockwise carriageway in January 2024 caused significant delays and traffic congestion. To minimize the impact on road users this time around, Highways England has planned a diversion route and advised motorists to seek alternative routes or plan additional travel time during the closure period.
Diversion Route and Advice
During the closure, traffic will be diverted via the A12, A127, and A13. Road users are strongly advised to allow extra travel time for their journeys and to follow the official diversion signs.
Regular updates and traffic information will be available on the Highways England website and social media channels. Motorists are encouraged to check traffic conditions before setting off and to consider using public transport or carpooling options to reduce congestion.
