Beverly Hills Cop Franchise Gets a Reboot

The fourth installment of the beloved action comedy franchise is set to hit theaters in 2024

Mark Molloy will direct, with Eddie Murphy returning to star

The Beverly Hills Cop franchise is getting a reboot, with a fourth installment set to hit theaters in 2024. Mark Molloy will direct the film, with Eddie Murphy returning to star as Axel Foley. The film will also star Judge Reinhold, Kevin Bacon, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The original Beverly Hills Cop was released in 1984 and was a critical and commercial success. The film spawned two sequels, Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994). An unaired television pilot was also produced in 1995.

The reboot has been in development for several years, with Murphy attached to the project since 2016. The film is finally moving forward with Molloy, who previously directed the action comedy Cop Out (2010). The screenplay was written by Will Beall, Tom Gormican, and Kevin Etten.

No plot details have been released for the reboot, but it is expected to be a return to the original film's formula of action, comedy, and buddy cop hijinks. Murphy is also expected to reprise his iconic role as Axel Foley, the streetwise Detroit cop who goes undercover in Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Hills Cop reboot is sure to be a major event for fans of the franchise. The original film is a classic, and Murphy is one of the most popular actors in the world. With Molloy at the helm and a strong cast in place, the reboot has all the ingredients to be a success.
