Argentinas Winged Crest

AFA, the History Behind the Badge

Argentina's Winged Crest

WEB Argentina has used the logo of the Argentine Football Association as its emblem since it was first worn at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. However, the history of the AFA logo dates back much further, to the early days of football in Argentina. The earliest known logo was used in the year 1900, at the time when the body was referred to as Asociación Argentina de Football (AAF). Back then, the team's kit did not have an official crest, but the AAF logo was used on official documents and correspondence.

The Name Behind the Crest

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) was founded in 1893, and its first president was Alexander Watson Hutton. The organization was initially called the Argentine Association Football League, but it changed its name to the Argentine Football Association in 1912. The AFA is the governing body for football in Argentina, and it is responsible for organizing the country's national football team, as well as the Primera División, the top division of Argentine football.

The Symbol of Argentina Football

The AFA badge is a simple and elegant design. It features the letters "AFA" in blue and white, the colors of the Argentine flag. The letters are placed within a white circle, which is surrounded by a blue border. The circle is set against a blue background, and the entire design is enclosed in a gold-colored frame. The badge is a symbol of Argentine football, and it is recognized all over the world.
